Miso Cream Cheese Canapés

This is useful for dinner parties or other occasions.
Use seasonal ingredients on crackers and enjoy with beer, wine, and other beverages.

Ingredients

50g cream cheese
8g mugi miso
packs of crackers
1 small bunch of chives, chopped
a few blades of parsley, finely chopped

Cooking & Preparation Time: 30mins

Method

(1) Bring cream cheese out of fridge and allow it to warm to room temperature.
(2) Using a Japanese mortar (suribachi) and pestle, grind the mugi miso until the grains are completely crushed.
(3) Add cream cheese, and blend with the pestle until the mix is as marbled or well-blended as you like, and add a small amount of chives.
(4) Spread the mixture on crackers, add toppings, and garnish with parsley.

 

Suggested toppings:

Prawn & Edamame (green soya beans), Smoked Salmon & Dill, Prawn & Okra.

 

Tips

This can be kept in the fridge for a few weeks, it's really convenient!
You can also spread this on toast or on sandwiches for a lunch box.
